International Data Exchange

The International Data Exchange Service (IDES) is a managed service that allows Financial Institutions (FI) and Host Country Tax Authorities (HCTA) to automatically exchange FATCA data with the United States. IDES will also enable the United States to make reciprocal exchanges as described in any Intergovernmental Agreements (IGA).

IDES safely and securely transmits data for all FATCA jurisdictions. It encrypts the data being sent and the transmission pathway. A standard format developed in cooperation with the OECD that captures required information to report FATCA data. You can download the XML schema format The Intergovernmental FATCA XML Schema (version 1.1). You can upload files either through a browser-based or a scheduled bulk data transfer environment

What uses it?

HCTAs and FIs that submit information directly will be enrolled through IDES.
