The Lehman Small Business Development Center and Lehman College Adult Education will deliver 10 sessions on the Art of Record Keeping. The knowledge and skills needed for those aspiring to become full charge bookkeepers are provided in this program. The course will address good record keeping and gross receipts.

IRS materials, including Pub. 583, Starting a Business and Keeping Records, will be utilized for presentation and also distributed to the students. The value and importance of the IRS Online Calendar will also be introduced, and promoted to the new entrepreneurs. The SBA online class on record keeping will also be referenced during presentation. This free workshop will benefit individuals getting started in business and those interested in going into business. It focuses on the fundamentals of federal taxes for small business owners, including Entity Choice, Recordkeeping, Business Income and Expenses, Self-Employment Tax and Estimated Tax. The seminar also covers the basics of small business tax forms, including Schedule C (Form 1040), Profit or Loss from Business (Sole Proprietorship), Schedule SE (Form 1040), Self-Employment Tax, and Form 1040-ES, Estimated Tax for Individuals. This seminar provides an opportunity to get answers to a wide range of tax questions about launching a new business venture. IRS products will be distributed to all attendees at this event. Seating is on a first come, first seated basis unless otherwise noted. No registration is required.
