1. Attention Small and Mid-Sized Exempt Organizations: Register for Specialized Workshops Now

Are you responsible for helping a small or mid-sized exempt organization or church?  If so, sign up for an IRS Fall 2007 one-day workshop in Salt Lake City, UT , Columbia, SC, or Sacramento, CA.  Topics include maintaining tax-exempt status, unrelated business income tax, employment tax, and disclosure requirements.  2008 workshops in other locations will be announced soon.

 

 


2. New Compliance Guides for 501(c)(3) Public Charities and Private Foundations

These specialized publications for public charities and private foundations provide an overview of activities that could jeopardize exempt status as well as information on recordkeeping, reporting and disclosure compliance requirements.

 

 


3.  Charities That Participated in Transactions of Interest May Receive Notice of IRS Examination 

The IRS is issuing letters and questionnaires to organizations that may have received certain interests in real property (known as "successor member interests") in a type of transaction described in Notice 2007-72.
