1. Registration Opens for IRS Nationwide Tax Forums
The 2005 IRS Nationwide Tax Forums offer tax professionals the latest word from the IRS on tax law, compliance and tax practice and procedures.
IRS Exempt Organizations will offer one-hour seminars taught by Exempt Organizations specialists on Political and Lobbying Activity by Section 501(c)(3) Organizations and the New Form 1023, as well as a two-hour workshop on completing the Form 990 Information Return, during the Tax Forums. Advance registration is required for the Form 990 workshop.
Tax Forums will be held in San Francisco (June 28 - 30), Houston (July 12-14), Atlanta (July 26-28), New York City (August 9 - 11), Las Vegas (August 23 - 25) and Chicago (August 30 - September 1). 2. New on irs.gov: IRA Resource Guide
The Individual Retirement Arrangement (IRA) Resource Guide is your one-stop source for information on traditional or Roth IRA, or IRA-based SEP, SIMPLE IRA, SARSEP or Payroll Deduction IRA retirement plans. Sections on how to set up, contribute, invest and withdraw are included along with frequently asked questions, video clips, research materials and web site links. Developed by the IRS the CD-ROM also includes information from the Securities and Exchange Commission and Social Security Administration.

3. Exempt Organizations e-File Update
As of April 17, 2005, 863 exempt organization returns have been filed using Modernized e-File this year (see table below for a break down of e-file returns received).
Forms 990, 990-EZ, 990-PF and 1120-POL, as well as extension applications Forms 8868 (for 990-series forms) and 7004 (for 1120-POL), are available through Modernized e-File. E-file saves you time and effort, and eliminates errors with built-in accuracy checks in the return preparation software.
