Provide clear instructions to adopting employers

  • An interim or discretionary amendment is not signed or dated
  • Adopting employer can’t locate plan documents when audited
  • Adopting employer doesn’t understand what to do

The easier you can make any action for the adopting employer, the more likely they will be to take that action. 

When using mail, consider sending duplicate copies of documents to employers and including a self-addressed stamped envelope. Indicate where the employer must sign and date.  Instruct the adopting employers to return one signed and dated copy to you and to retain the other copy for their records.
