Public Hearings Scheduled on Proposed Rulemaking for Governmental and Indian Tribal Government Plans

Public hearings will be held in the auditorium of the Internal Revenue Service building at 1111 Constitution Avenue NW, Washington, DC on two advance notices of proposed rulemaking (ANPRMs) relating to the definition of the term “governmental plan” under Internal Revenue Code section 414(d).

The first public hearing is on advance notice of proposed rulemaking (REG-157714-06), relating to the general determination of governmental plans. The second public hearing is on advance notice of proposed rulemaking (REG-133223-08), relating to the determination of whether a plan of an Indian Tribal Government is a governmental plan within the meaning of IRC section 414(d).

The notices of public hearings extend the comment period to June 18, 2012. Interested parties should review the applicable notice for details on the procedures for attending the hearing, as well as information on submitting requests to speak and outline of topics.

  • Governmental Plans - Notice of public hearing on July 9, 2012, at 10 a.m. on the advance notice of proposed rulemaking (ANPRM REG - 157714-06).

  • Indian Tribal Governmental Plans - Notice of public hearing on July 10, 2012, at 10 a.m. on the advance notice of proposed rulemaking (ANPRM REG -133223-08).

Submission of comments, requests to speak and outlines of topics to be discussed at the public hearing must be received by June 18, 2012.
