THE FEE TO RENEW ENROLLMENT IS $250.

“08-” and “11-” Prefixes (Updated April 26, 2011)
Under the regulations of the Joint Board for the Enrollment of Actuaries effective both before and after May 2, 2011, an enrolled actuary must complete the applicable continuing education requirements by December 31, 2010, and file a renewal application (with user fee) by March 1, 2011, in order for his or her enrollment to be renewed effective April 1, 2011. Otherwise, the actuary's status as an enrolled actuary expires effective April 1, 2011, and his or her enrollment is not renewed until the later of April 1, 2011, or the date of the notice of renewal.
The Joint Board is aware that a number of enrolled actuaries did not submit their applications for renewal of enrollment by the March 1, 2011, due date. Due to delays in processing the renewal applications, the Joint Board is concerned that actuaries who missed either of the above deadlines would be unable to practice as enrolled actuaries for a longer period of time.
Therefore, the Joint Board has decided to grant a special extension of time to file for this enrollment cycle only. Effective April 12, 2011, any continuing education credits applied for the enrollment cycle ending December 31, 2010 that are earned on or before April 1, 2011, are deemed to have been timely completed, and a properly completed renewal application that is postmarked on or before April 1, 2011 is deemed to be timely filed. Accordingly, actuaries whose renewal application is postmarked after March 1, 2011 but on or before April 1, 2011 may begin using the "11-" prefix for documents signed on or after April 12, 2011. The IRS, Department of Labor and the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation will accept the "08-" prefix for documents signed through March 31, 2011.
It is not necessary to contact the Joint Board office for verification that we have received your application. If you mailed your application on or before April 1, 2011 and you received verification of payment of your user fee (e.g., your check has cleared or you received confirmation of a wire transfer of funds), then you can assume that your application was received.
General Information Concerning Renewal of Enrollment
An Enrolled Actuary's enrollment to practice is renewable every three years. To qualify for renewal of enrollment an Enrolled Actuary must certify that he/she has satisfied the continuing professional education (CPE) requirements specified in the Joint Board's regulations.
