Filing by Mail

Because the IRS has changed the filing location for several areas, some taxpayers who file by mail will be mailing their 2008 returns to different addresses than those used for 2007 returns.

If a taxpayer's tax package included a pre-addressed envelope, the taxpayer should use the envelope to mail the return to the IRS. Otherwise, to determine where to mail the return, the taxpayer should consult Where Do You File? on the back cover of the instructions for Form 1040, Form 1040-A, or Form 1040-EZ.
