Form RRB-1099 and Form RRB-1099R

Continuing with the forms used to report retirement income, Form RRB-1099, Payments by the Railroad Retirement Board, and Form RRB-1099R, Annuities or Pensions by the Railroad Retirement Board, are used to report railroad retirement benefits paid to railroad employees under the Railroad Retirement Act. These benefits fall into two categories:

  • Tier 1 railroad retirement benefits
  • Tier 2 benefits

These categories are treated differently for income tax purposes.
