How many credit counseling organizations has the IRS examined?

As of September 30, 2006, we have examined 63 credit counseling organizations, representing 56 percent of the revenue in the credit counseling industry, based on information from the latest available IRS filing data.  In addition, we are conducting compliance checks on more than 700 credit counseling organizations to determine whether they are operating compliant credit counseling programs.
