Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) statistics for tax year 2000 and prior are estimates based on samples. The EITC statistics beginning with 2001 represent returns processed between January 1 and December 31 of the applicable processing year. These figures include only returns credited with EITC after the math error authority is applied and does not include changes to the EITC during the reporting period due to amended returns, examinations or other adjustments.
