What Information do I need to find out how much my 2008 Economic Stimulus Payment was?
For privacy and security reasons, you will be asked to enter the following information from your 2007 tax return:
Where do I get the Social Security Number?
- If you filed a Form 1040, the Social Security Number is shown on Page 1 in the upper right hand corner.
- If you filed a Form 1040A, the Social Security Number is shown on Page 1 in the upper right hand corner.
- If you filed a Form 1040EZ, the Social Security Number is shown on Page 1 in the upper right hand corner.
Where do I get my 2007 Filing Status?
- If you filed a 2007 Form 1040, the Filing Status is shown on Page 1, Boxes 1 through 5.
- If you filed a 2007 Form 1040A, the Filing Status is shown on Page 1, Boxes 1 through 5.
- If you filed a 2007 Form 1040EZ, the Filing Status is either Single or Married Filing a Joint Return.
Where do I get my 2007 Exemption amount?
- If you filed a 2007 Form 1040 or 1040A, the Total Exemptions amount is shown on line 6d.
- For 1040EZ , enter 1 if you were Single, 2 if were Married Filing Joint or 0 if you could be claimed as a dependent on someone else's tax return.
I filed a Joint Return. Which Social Security Number do I use to get the amount of my stimulus payment from last year?
Either Social Security Number that was on your joint 2007 tax return may be used.
What if my Filing Status changed?
If you're 2008 filing status is not the same as on your 2007 return, special rules may apply when figuring the Recovery Rebate Credit. Be sure to closely follow the instructions given in the tool for the amount to use as the total Economic Stimulus Payment received.
