General Information on CC TXCMP

  1. Command Code TXCMP is used by IRS employees to calculate individual income tax liability using the Tax Rate Schedules.

  2. TXCMP should not be used when the taxable income reflects a net capital gain (Schedule D) and falls into or above the 39.6% tax bracket. Instead, a manual computation must be performed using the Schedule D Tax Worksheet.

Command Code TXCMP with a blank definer will result in the tax liability being computed on the tax year, filing status and taxable income present on the screen. This screen is shown in See Exhibit 2.3.38-3.
