Important ERPA Renewal Information for 2011
Final Regulations Relating to the Imposition of User Fees for Enrolled Retirement Plan Agents
Enrolled Retirement Plan Agents (ERPA) with Social Security Numbers ending in 4, 5, or 6 must apply for renewal no later than June 30, 2011.
The Form 8554EP, Application for Renewal of Enrollment to Practice Before the Internal Revenue Service as an ERPA is not currently available on line or through pay.gov, however, the form will be available on June 1, 2011. A paper copy of Form 8554EP will be mailed to ERPAs who are required to renew during this current cycle. The completed paper copy of Form 8554EP should be submitted along with your personal check or money order in the amount of $30.00 to the address shown on the instructions of the form. If you prefer to renew electronically the Form 8554EP will become available through www.pay.gov on June 1, 2011. You must choose only one method of renewal; submitting both a paper and an electronic form will only delay your renewal.
Note: Pursuant to the regulations:
The User Fee for new EA and ERPA applicants is $30.00 beginning April 19, 2011.
The User Fee for EA and ERPA renewals also is $30.00 beginning April 19, 2011, but the renewal period for EAs impacted by Announcement 2010-81 is subject to the dates described in the final regulations.
