Exempt Organizations Select Check (ASL) - YouTube video text script

Hi, I’m Maria, and I work for the IRS.

I want to tell you about a tool that can help you look up charities and other nonprofits on our website.

It’s called the Exempt Organizations Select Check.

It can help you in three different ways.

First, it can help you see if a charity is eligible to receive tax-deductible donations.

Second, it can let you know if the tax-exempt status of a nonprofit has been automatically revoked.

This happens if a charity does not file its annual information return, such as a Form 990, or the simpler versions, Form 990-EZ or Form 990-N for three consecutive years.

And finally, it can look up information that’s found on the 990-N, also known as the e-Postcard.

This is the form that small tax-exempt organizations file with us.

So, to get started with the Exempt Organizations Select Check, just go to IRS.gov and type Charity in the search field.
