Date: November 16, 2020 Contact: newsroom@ci.irs.gov Tucson, AZ – On Tuesday, Van Raymond Brollini, a former resident of Tucson, Arizona, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Cindy K. Jorgenson to 33 months in prison for evading payment of approximately $310,000 in federal tax owed to the government. Brollini was also ordered to pay $510,937.68 in restitution and approximately $6,000 in prosecution costs. Brollini was remanded into federal custody immediately after his sentence. A federal jury had previously found Brollini guilty of tax evasion, corrupt interference with tax administration, and failure to file a tax return. The evidence presented at trial demonstrated that Brollini, a former engineer at National Semiconductor Corporation, evaded payment of taxes assessed by the Internal Revenue Service from 2002 through 2004, and failed to file a return as required by law for tax years 2006 through 2009. The Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation conducted the investigation in this case. The Financial Crimes Unit of the U.S. Attorney's Office, District of Arizona, Tucson, handled the prosecution.
