Release Memo for Form 1040 Series Modernized e-File (MeF) 2014v5.1

Revised January 16, 2015

MeF Stakeholders:

The Form 1040 Series 2014v5.1 Schema package was posted to IRS.gov on December 29, 2014, and the Business Rules on January 16, 2015. The updated schema package includes changes to IRS8962. The only changes are for the characters allowed for the value of 'PolicyNum’ in IRS8962. Previously, the restrictions for the value were from 1 to 15 alphanumeric characters. The change allows for hyphens (-), underscores (_), colons (:), and spaces in addition to the alphanumeric characters.  The restriction for the length is not changed. The 2014v5.1 Schemas and Business Rules will be available in ATS on January 18, 2015. The availability date for Production is January 20, 2015.

XML Schemas

The "Diff" Files for the Form 1040 Series identify the changes from the 2014v5.0 schema package to the 2014v5.1 schema package.

Business Rules

The Form 1040 Series (2014v5.1) business rules have been posted in two formats that contain identical information: Adobe (.pdf) and Comma Separated Values (.csv).

If you have any questions about the schemas or business rules, please send your inquiry to the MeF Mailbox.
