Form 8850, Pre-Screening Notice and Certification Request for the Work Opportunity Credit, Filing Deadline Extended -- 17-JUN-2016

If you hire an individual for whom you complete Form 8850, Pre-Screening Notice and Certification Request for the Work Opportunity Credit, it generally must be signed by you and the individual and submitted to the state employment security agency (SESA) of the state in which your business is located (where the employee works) by the 28th calendar day after the date the individual begins work. The Instructions for Form 8850 provide additional time to complete, sign, and submit certain Forms 8850 to the SESA. For individuals who began working for you on or after January 1, 2015 (January 1, 2016, for qualified long-term unemployment recipients), and on or before August 31, 2016, you now have until September 28, 2016, to complete, sign, and submit Form 8850 to the SESA.

Use the March 2016 revision of Form 8850 to request certification of qualified long-term unemployment recipients. For more information, see the March 2016 revision of the Instructions for Form 8850
