General information

This notice is another reminder that you still owe a balance on one of your tax accounts.

Pay the amount due shown on the notice immediately directly from you bank account or pay by card. If you cannot pay online, you can mail us your payment in the envelope we sent you. Include the bottom part of the notice to make sure we correctly credit your account.

You should pay the entire balance within 10 days of the date of the notice or additional penalties and interest will be added.

If you can't pay the whole amount now, pay as much as you can, and set up a monthly payment plan.  Additionally, see if you qualify for help from a Low Income Taxpayer Clinic.

Interest and penalties

If you don't pay the amount due in full or establish a monthly payment plan, we may file a Notice of Federal Tax Lien on your property at any time. In addition, interest will accrue on your account and additional penalties may apply.

If a lien is established you may have difficulty selling or borrowing against your property. A lien may also adversely impact your credit score and your creditors will be notified that IRS has priority to seize your property.
