The IRS announced today that its Large Business and International (LB&I) Division will participate in a series of webinars in collaboration with various stakeholders to provide tax practitioners with additional information about how its new compliance campaigns will operate.

KPMG will host the first in this series of webinars, which is scheduled for Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at 2 p.m. EST. The 75-minute webinar will focus on the campaign process, how campaigns are being implemented and how they will impact taxpayers. LB&I's Tina Meaux, assistant deputy commissioner, Compliance Integration; and Kathy Robbins, director of the Enterprise Activities Practice Area, will conduct this webinar.

Dates and times for additional webinars hosted by other stakeholders, in which IRS executives will discuss more fully the 13 compliance campaigns launched on Jan. 31, 2017, will be announced in the weeks ahead. Those interested in attending the March 7 webinar can register via this link to KPMG.

All these upcoming webinars will be open to the public and free of charge.

In announcing the initial rollout of 13 compliance campaigns in January, IRS officials said the launch was the culmination of an extensive effort to redefine compliance work and create greater transparency between the IRS and LB&I’s taxpayer segment. LB&I leaders plan to continue discussions with the tax professional community to best meet the needs of the taxpayers and tax administration.

LB&I's move toward issue-based examinations and a campaign process allows the division to decide which tax issues that present risk require a response while maintaining flexibility on the best steps to achieve compliance.
