IRS Announces 6th in Series of Webinars on LB&I Compliance Campaigns

The IRS announced today that its Large Business and International (LB&I) Division will participate in the 6th in a series of webinars on May 23 to provide tax practitioners with additional information about how its new compliance campaigns will operate.

Morgan Lewis will host this webinar, which is scheduled for Tuesday, May 23, at 1 p.m. EDT. This one-hour webinar will focus on two compliance campaigns:

  • Repatriation
  • Form 1120F Non-Filer

The webinar will be conducted by LB&I's John Hinding, director of the Cross Border Activities Practice Area; and Barbara Harris, director of the Northeastern Compliance Practice Area.

Those interested in attending the May 23 webinar can register via this link to Morgan Lewis.

Dates and times for additional webinars, in which IRS executives, in collaboration with various stakeholders, will discuss more fully the 13 compliance campaigns launched on Jan. 31, 2017, will be announced in the weeks ahead.

In announcing the initial rollout of 13 compliance campaigns in January, IRS officials said the launch was the culmination of an extensive effort to redefine compliance work and create greater transparency between the IRS and LB&I’s taxpayer segment. LB&I leaders plan to continue discussions with the tax professional community to best meet the needs of the taxpayers and tax administration.

LB&I's move toward issue-based examinations and a campaign process allows the division to decide which tax issues that present risk require a response while maintaining flexibility on the best steps to achieve compliance.
