September 13, 2022 The IRS and its community partners are recruiting volunteers to help prepare tax returns for the upcoming 2023 filing season. It's never been easier to volunteer for the free tax preparation program than now. For over 50 years, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) sites have offered free tax preparation for low-to-moderate income taxpayers. VITA/TCE sites across the country have recently expanded their virtual volunteering options. This allows you to make a positive impact on your community from the comfort of your home if that's what you choose. Prefer to volunteer in person? Most IRS partners offer face-to-face tax preparation during the filing season.
