(ASL) - YouTube video text script - Get Transcript – Plan Ahead

Hi, I’m Patti, and I work for the IRS.

There are many reasons you might need a copy of your tax return transcript.

You may be applying for financial aid so you can go to college, or you may need a loan to buy a home or start a business.

Whatever your reason, it’s a good idea to plan ahead.

The fastest way to get a transcript is through the Get Transcript tool at irs.gov/transcript.

Just click on the “Get Transcript by Mail” button to have a copy sent to the address we have on file for you.

You should get your transcript within five to ten days from the time we receive your request. If you prefer, you can order your transcript by calling 800-908-9946 through Video Relay Service (VRS).

Or you can fax or mail us a completed Form 4506-T.

Whatever method you use, just remember to plan ahead so you can receive your ordered transcript by the time you need it.

Get started at irs.gov/transcript.
