YouTube video text script - Security Summit: Secure Your Tax Return
[ music ]
When someone wants to print out a copy of their tax record and keep it secure in a locked file cabinet, that's great and we recommend that, but don't forget to lock your computer as well.
You need to have an encryption program on your computer to lock it down so that no one has access to your tax record stored on your hard drive.
And before you dispose of your computer, by all means, wipe your hard drive so that criminals can't use that to steal your personal information.
Taxes. Security. Together.
Go to irs.gov and type in identity theft in the search box.
