Date: November 4, 2020 Contact: newsroom@ci.irs.gov Newark, N.J. – A New Jersey dentist pleaded guilty today to filing a false tax return with the Internal Revenue Service. Richard Golembioski, a resident of Sussex County, New Jersey entered his plea in Newark federal court before U.S. District Judge Madeline Cox Arleo. Golembioski pleaded guilty to one count of making and subscribing to a false tax return. Sentencing is scheduled for March 8, 2021. According to court documents and statements made in court: Golembioski was a licensed dentist with a practice in Vernon, New Jersey. For the 2012 tax year, Golembioski admitted that he filed a fraudulent tax return. The return was fraudulent in that Golembioski failed to report approximately $114,566 in additional income from his dental practice. In addition, Golembioski failed to report additional income from his dental practice on his 2013 through 2016 tax returns. The count of subscribing to a false tax return carries a statutory maximum prison sentence of three years and a statutory maximum fine equal to the greatest of: (1) $250,000; (2) twice the gross amount of any pecuniary gain derived from the offense; or (3) twice the gross amount of any pecuniary loss sustained by any victims of the offense. The investigation was conducted by IRS-Criminal Investigation, Newark Field Office, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Michael Montanez and the U.S. Attorney's Office, under the direction of U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito.
