Event Information: The California Society of Tax Consultants Summer Symposium will be held in Reno, Nevada from June 1 through June 4, 2014, with registration and vendor exhibition beginning June 1, 2014. The Symposium offers federal and California state continuing education credit for Enrolled Agents, CPAs and California Registered Tax Preparers. Matthew Weir, Deputy National Director of the Taxpayer Advocate Service, will be the IRS keynote speaker. This event also offers preparers the opportunity to meet with major vendors of tax return preparation software and other related products and services. Event Information: San Jose State University in partnership with the Internal Revenue Service are offering a full day of pertinent topics addressing Small Business issues for those who support the success of small businesses and entrepreneurs in the community. IRS employees, practitioners and university staff will be providing presentations and panel discussions on:

  • Forms of Business
  • Start-up Expenses
  • Ethics and Advising an Emerging Business
  • Worker Classification – Hiring Correctly
  • Filing Obligations – What’s Needed to Start a Business?

CPA CPE, Continuing Education credit for Enrolled Agents and MCLE for California Attorneys is being offered. Lunch and light refreshments are included.
