Understanding Your CP301 Notice

We sent you this notice to confirm that you visited the IRS online services website and completed our identity verification process.


What you need to do

  • If you did NOT verify your identity with IRS using our online services, please call the phone number shown on your notice.
  • If you created a User ID and Password, use them each time you access our online services. Keep your registration profile data current. We will send you a confirmation email each time you update your profile.
  • If you accessed our online services as a GUEST USER, you must enter the requested information every time you access online services. There is a limit to the number of times you can access online services as a guest. The system will notify you if you’re required to register.

Q. Can I use the system if I forgot my user id or password?

A. Yes, you can go to online services and retrieve your user id or password.

Q. How long is my online services account valid?

A. Your online services account is valid as long as you are an active user. After login, we periodically require users to provide information to revalidate.

Q. Can I use the same user id and password that I created on the online services website for all IRS online services?

A. Yes, you can use the same user id and password to access any IRS Online Services offered.
