Small Business Administration (SBA): The SBA has small business loan and assistance programs as well as a network of resources and partnerships with other public and private organizations that offer special outreach efforts and initiatives to help small businesses. SBA's programs and services assist in almost every aspect of starting a business - from developing a business plan to obtaining financing and marketing products. Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE): The SCORE program is an organization sponsored by the SBA to match volunteer business-management consultants with present and prospective small business owners in need of expert advice. The volunteers provide free and confidential one-to-one consulting and offer low-cost pre-business workshops. More information and a schedule of workshops can be found at Seattle SCORE's website.

SCORE also has online resources and tools to help you make decisions on starting or growing your business. 

Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs): The SBA provides funding for a network of Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs) throughout the country. The SBDCs provide no-cost business consulting, training, and research tailored to the local community and the needs of individual clients. The Washington Small Business Development Center is a university-based organization offering a wealth of free and low-cost information designed to educate and support small business owners and managers, inventors, and potential entrepreneurs. Washington State Department of Revenue (DOR):
The DOR offers free workshops and online workshops and tutorials to learn the basics of Washington State taxes. Tax reporting classifications, deductions, sales tax collection, and recordkeeping requirements are covered.
