Treasury Department and IRS update EPCRS and establish new ICRS program for correcting IRA errors
The Treasury Department and the IRS have issued two revenue procedures that update the Employee Plans Compliance Resolution System (EPCRS) and establish a new IRA Compliance Resolution System (ICRS) pursuant to the SECURE 2.0 Act of 2022 (SECURE 2.0).
In particular, (1) Revenue Procedure 2026-34 PDF updates EPCRS, the correction system for sponsors of employer retirement plans, and modifies and supersedes Revenue Procedure 2021-30, and (2) Revenue Procedure 2026-33 PDF establishes ICRS, a new correction program for IRAs, which is modeled after EPCRS.
