Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) Burden Survey

OMB #1545-2212

The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) included many new and revised provisions. The IRS is conducting a survey of randomly-selected business taxpayers to learn about the costs they incurred to learn about and comply with new requirements and/or claim new benefits included in the law.

Responses from businesses like yours will help us estimate the amount of time and money all businesses will spend to meet their TCJA-related filing requirements. We will also use this information to help identify opportunities to reduce taxpayer burden. All information provided will be used for research purposes only and participation is voluntary.

Only those businesses that are randomly selected may participate in the study. Data are being collected over the course of the next six months, so your business may still be selected even if you have not yet received an invitation. We estimate that it will take 15 to 20 minutes to complete the survey.

This survey is being conducted by Westat on behalf of the IRS. Sample copies of the survey and IRS letter that invites taxpayers to participate in the survey are provided below.

We hope you will decide to participate in this study. Together we have an opportunity to advance our understanding of taxpayer burden. Thank you.
