Access Secure Messaging

Saturdays 6–10 p.m. Eastern time: Secure Messaging may be unavailable.

Who can use Secure Messaging?

Individuals and authorized employees of your company will be able to use secure messaging relating to your LB&I case. You will interact directly with a LB&I representative.

How Secure Messaging works

IRS Secure Messaging is similar to a web-based email service. Messages can be securely sent to you by IRS representatives and you may respond and include document attachments pertaining to your LB&I case.

The IRS will save all messages as a digital record of your communications with us. You'll be notified when you have a secure message waiting for you via a notification email to the address(s) provided on the signed consent.

The notification will include a link to your secure messaging center. In order to protect your privacy and reduce the potential for identity theft, we will send no personal information within the notification email.

Taxpayer representatives

If you're a representative of a taxpayer/business who has been invited to use Secure Messaging, you may access the application as long as you have signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and completed the authentication process. To access Secure Messaging, click on the link above to register.

Once you have an account, log in to your Secure Message account and look for the "Request Access" button under Tax Preparer Options and follow the instructions.

Creating an account

If you've been invited to use Secure Messaging, you'll need the following information to register and use the service:

  • Consent form signed by an officer of the company.
  • Initial login name and password provided by LB&I.
