Free File Fillable Forms technical support cannot verify or trace a tax payment. An accepted return does not confirm that a bank withdrawal was successful.

Choose how you paid to find the correct IRS tool. Go to payment help.

Use form help when information disappears, a total does not calculate or transfer, a form is missing from the printout, or the page is misaligned.

Start with the official form instructions, the line-by-line software help and the current computer requirements. Go to form and printing help.

A transmission problem happens before the return reaches the IRS. Step 4 usually lists incomplete e-file information that must be fixed before the return can be sent.

This is different from a rejected return. Go to transmission help.

A rejected return is not filed. Copy the complete latest rejection email or all rejection data from Step 5 into the Error Search Tool.

Correct every error and resubmit the return. Search rejection errors.

Review country-based access restrictions, the U.S. phone requirement, foreign banks, foreign addresses, character limits, unsupported forms and APO, DPO or FPO addresses.

Technical support cannot remove or bypass a country-based access restriction. Go to international and military filer help.

  1. Check spam, junk and filtered folders for email from customer_service@freefilefillableforms.com.
  2. Sign in and review Step 5 for the current return status.
  3. Use transmission support only if Step 5 does not show a result and the return is not rejected.

Review the transmission steps. Go to transmission help.

Use the official form instructions to decide what applies to your tax situation. Use the Free File Fillable Forms line-by-line page to learn how a field calculates, transfers or accepts an entry.

Line-by-line software help

Forms and program limitations

Technical support can explain how the software works. It cannot tell you what to enter, whether you qualify for a credit or deduction, or how tax law applies to you.

Use the official form instructions or the Interactive Tax Assistant.

Review the current known-issues section before you change or resubmit a return. If no issue is listed, an individual account, form, transmission or rejection problem can still affect your return.
