Worker (Mis)Classification of Professionals

Date: February 15, 2022
Time: 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Location: Virtual event
Event Information: Join us for an interactive program where we will guide you through the proper classification of professionals as either an employee or independent contractor for tax purposes through two case studies.

The Worker (Mis)Classification of Professionals such as lawyers, accountants, doctors, consultants and other service workers are often misclassified as either an employee or independent contractor for federal tax purposes. A significant portion of cases litigated in court on the classification of workers in the past two years involve a professional worker which indicates taxpayers and tax practitioners are still wrestling with this issue. The standards for classifying professionals is not uniform and differ from classifying other types of workers. Communication Liaison has been invited to participate.
