What this notice is about
Due to the high volume of responses received, we need more time to finish reviewing your response. We apologize for the delay.
What you need to do
You do not need to do anything at this time.
Please allow 60 days for us to complete our review. If you need assistance and have not received a response within 60 days of the date printed on your notice, call us at the toll-free telephone number provided on your notice.
What you need to know
If we previously sent you a Statutory Notice of Deficiency (sent by certified mail), it lists the last day to petition the Tax Court. The court can't consider your case if you file the petition late. For more information about petitioning the Tax Court, review page 5 of Publication 3498-A, The Examination Process PDF or visit United States Tax Court.
Tips for next year
Consider filing your taxes electronically. Filing online can help you to avoid mistakes and to find credits and deductions for which you may qualify. In many cases you can file electronically for free. Learn more about e-file.
