United States Attorney Lesley A. Woods announced that Maria Asuncion Gonzalez of Omaha, Nebraska, was sentenced on Oct. 2, 2026, in federal court in Omaha for conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of actual methamphetamine. United States District Judge Robert F. Rossiter, Jr. sentenced Gonzalez to 130 months’ imprisonment. There is no parole in the federal system. After Gonzalez is released from prison, she will begin a 5-year term of supervised release. She will also forfeit to the United States $890.00 in drug proceeds.

Gonzalez was charged as a result of her involvement with a Mexico source of supply of methamphetamine who supplies the Omaha and Council Bluffs, Iowa, areas with methamphetamine via a local network of drug couriers. Customers order drugs from the source who then sends them to meet with a local courier who delivers the drugs to the customers.

On Feb. 20, 2025, investigators utilized a cooperating witness who ordered a quantity of methamphetamine from the Mexican source who sent the cooperator to Gonzalez’s Omaha residence where she delivered approximately 300 grams of methamphetamine to the cooperator.

On March 11, 2025, law enforcement executed a search warrant on Gonzalez’s residence, where 1,217 grams of methamphetamine, phones, and $890.00 in drug proceeds were seized.
