A message from the Commissioner — Thank you for the good you do

Thank you for the good you do – not only for the IRS and the country, but for your individual families and communities. My heart is filled with pride because of you!

As our leadership team continues to work through the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 outbreak, we know we can count on you to deliver results, because you do.

We're grateful for your willingness to step up and meet the challenges head on. We're in awe of your flexibility and teamwork to get things done quickly and correctly. And we're inspired by the stories in our IRS Heroes – In This Together series.

In a story highlighting IRS's role in implementing the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act, Linda Gilpin, Associate CIO of Applications Development, credited the team's determination to deliver and meet urgent deadlines to a "sense of patriotism, honor and privilege to be working on something so vital to the entire nation."

This is why I love serving alongside you at the IRS. Your dedication to our mission and this country is why I can't stop talking about the amazing public servants you are, and the sacrifices you're making to assure the American people receive some economic relief through stimulus checks and tax refunds in our country's time of need.

On behalf of the IRS leadership team during Public Service Recognition Week, we want you to know that we see youwe praise youwe thank you…and we're proud of you!

We hope you're proud of the IRS too. I hope you'll take a moment to read some of the inspiring stories and share with friends, family and people in your community, the good that you and your colleagues are doing.

And in this time of physical separation, tap into some of IRS's tools to reach out to each other and thank, share a kind word, or offer a word of encouragement to your coworkers.

Thank you in advance for your incredible service and support as we continue to deliver economic aid to the nation, close out the extended tax filing season and implement the Taxpayer First Act. We are going to overcome these challenges and finish the year strong.

Chuck
