Due to appropriations lapse, Treasury and IRS cancel Jan. 24 public hearing regarding user fees of enrolled agents and enrolled retirement plan agents

IR-2019-05, January 22, 2019

WASHINGTON ― The Treasury Department and the Internal Revenue Service today announced the cancellation of a public hearing on proposed amendments to the regulations relating to imposing user fees for enrolled agents and enrolled retirement plan agents (REG-122898-17) due to the lapse of appropriations.

The public hearing was scheduled for Jan. 24, 2019, at 10 a.m. ET in the main auditorium of the Internal Revenue Service Building, 1111 Constitution Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20224.

The notice of proposed rulemaking and notice of public hearing was published on Nov. 19, 2018 (83 F.R. 58202).

The lapse of appropriations for Treasury took effect as of Dec. 21, 2018. Also due to the lapse in appropriations, the IRS will not determine until later, whether the public hearing will be rescheduled.
