Every business owner needs to know the tax issues associated with owning a small business in Connecticut. Learn about the different kinds of taxes affecting your business and about your filing responsibilities and deadlines. The certified CPA instructors will help you understand your reporting and compliance responsibilities and answer questions about payroll taxes, sales tax and personal property tax. IRS provides small business materials for the workshop. Cost: $40 (2 nights)

In this course you will learn the importance of good record keeping, what a balance sheet is, a profit and loss statement, how to read and analyze them and so much more. This workshop is designed for any business whether you are a start-up or an existing business as it teaches you to think about the financial aspects of your business. A critical component to any businesses success. IRS provides small business materials for the workshop. Cost $30; This workshop is a pre-requisite to QuickBooks Pro for Beginners.
- QuickBooks Pro for Beginners
In this 4-night 2.5 hour workshop you will learn how to set up your company, pay bills, write checks, receive payments, make deposits, reconcile statements, run reports and much more. This course will put you on the right road to keeping great records for your business so you can know every day where your business stands financially.
Note: To be able to attend this workshop you must have completed the Set up Your Business Finances workshop first. Only $189 for both workshops
SCORE New Haven Pre-Business Workshops
These Pre-Business Workshops cover a range of topics that must be considered before starting a small business such as business planning, CT tax regulations, federal tax regulations and tax responsibilities, legal considerations. Seminars are free of charge but seating is limited. Free parking is available in the Temple Street Garage; bring ticket for validation. Workshops are held with the collaboration of the Internal Revenue Service and others.
