How to Start a Business

Participants will be introduced to the basic steps of starting a small business. Topics covered will include researching your idea, legal structures, registration requirements, business plan resources and available financing options. The IRS is providing educational information and products for this class. Checklists will be provided. There is no cost for this class.

IRS Small Business Tax Workshop

Learn the basics of complying with IRS regulations, including business use of the home, self-employment tax, employee versus independent contractor, payroll taxes and electronic filing (EFTPS). Also learn recordkeeping requirements for business expenses, including vehicle use. This workshop will be presented by an experienced CPA and tax accountant. The IRS is providing educational information and products for this class. The cost is $45. Any fees charged by the sponsoring institution are exclusive of the Internal Revenue Service. There is no charge by the IRS for this event. Free parking available.
