CASH Campaign to Offer Free Tax Assistance for Working Marylanders

To celebrate its 20th year, the Creating Assets, Saving and Hope (CASH) Campaign of Maryland will hold a virtual kick-off press event, “Keep Your Money”, Friday morning to help low and moderate income families with free tax preparation. The event coincides with Earned Income Tax Credit Awareness Day, which aims to promote the tax credit that helps lift working families. During the past 19 years, the nonprofit CASH Campaign has prepared and filed more than 220,000 tax returns for free, putting almost $309 million in refunds and tax credits back into the hands of hardworking families and individuals in Baltimore. These efforts have saved taxpayers an estimated $32 million in unnecessary filing fees. This year, the campaign expects to help working Marylanders with 2020 incomes below $57,000, saving them more than $34 million through refunds and tax credits.

Comptroller Peter Franchot will be among the featured speakers. Other guests will include: IRS Commissioner Chuck Rettig; Congressmen John Sarbanes and Kweisi Mfume; Baltimore County Executive John Olszewski; Baltimore City Mayor Brandon Scott, City Council President Nick Mosby and City Comptroller Bill Henry, among others.
Registration: Please register in advance by visiting the CASH Campaign website. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
