IRS Small Business Tax Planning
Learn the basics of complying with IRS regulations, including business use of the home, self-employment tax, employee versus independent contractor, payroll taxes, and electronic filing (EFTPS). Also learn recordkeeping requirements for business expenses, including vehicle use. This workshop will be taught by William Schmidt, Clinic Director of Kansas Legal Services, Inc. and will utilize the SB/SE Leverage Small Business Tax Workshop Toolkit. IRS will also be providing materials for the attendees. Registration and refreshments will be available at 5:00 p.m. and the workshop will start promptly at 5:30 p.m. The cost for this event is $10 charged by AltCap. IRS is not charging for this event.

This three-hour class provides a quick overview of the critical first steps needed to start a business. It is designed specifically for those who are thinking about a new business venture. Participants will assess their strengths and weaknesses in terms of business ownership, learn about the importance of planning, discuss legal and regulatory requirements and identify sources of funding. The IRS is providing educational information and products for this class. Cost: $75/scholarships available. SCORE - How to Start and Manage Your Own Business
Get a practical review of what it takes to start your own business. In this one day workshop you will learn about taxes, legal structures, developing a business plan, marketing, financing and financial planning, technology, and licenses. Volunteers of the SCORE Association are conducting this one-day seminar and the IRS is providing educational materials that SCORE will utilize. The cost for this and all SCORE Seminars is $60 for Prepaid Registration and includes seminar materials. Fontbonne Students are FREE with Student ID and Veterans are FREE with Veteran’s ID.
