A broad range of issues including taxes, filing requirements, recordkeeping, wage liabilities, pitfalls to avoid, and the distinctions between employees and independent contractors will be presented. IRS is providing publications and forms, as well as a PowerPoint presentation which will be presented by a partnering practitioner. Small Business Workshop

If you have a brand new business, are thinking about starting a business, or have an existing business, then this workshop is for you. The New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department explains gross receipts tax, including how to file, taxable and nontaxable transactions and recordkeeping. The workshop also includes a brief "Issues for New Businesses" section to introduce you to other state and federal regulations and information resources. The IRS is providing forms and publications for this workshop and a volunteer for the IRS will present recordkeeping, selecting the right type of business entity, expenses, office in the home, depreciation and basic forms. Classes limited to 30 participants; pre-registration is required.
