Basic Withholding Tax Workshop

In this FREE 2 hour workshop, the SCDOR, along with an Enrolled Agent presenting IRS obligations and the South Carolina Department of Employment & Workforce (DEW) will present information to help you better understand your business obligations. Materials provided in class include the IRS Federal Tax Deposit publication and other electronic resources. Who should attend: small business owners, bookkeepers, payroll clerks, new withholding tax registrants, businesses who employ seasonal workers, and tax professionals. This webinar/workshop is for people with employees in South Carolina and most of material is state specific. For more information visit the SC Department of Revenue website.

  • Federal tax law issues (taught by an Enrolled Agent licensed to practice before the IRS)
  • Unemployment insurance? Liability and reporting requirements (taught by an SCDEW representative)
  • Basics of the SC Withholding Tax law

  • When to file and pay Withholding Taxes
  • Electronic filing methods

Federal & State Tax Workshop for Small Business

The Spartanburg Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is pleased to host the Federal & State Tax Workshop for Small Business. IRS publications, forms and presentations will be utilized. The morning session, 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Federal Tax Workshop, is designed for small business owners who want to learn how to start a new business including legal forms of business organization, getting the company FEIN for bookkeeping and accounting, recordkeeping, working with a paid tax preparer, etc. and paying federal taxes. The workshop will be taught by Chuck Christie, Enrolled IRS Agent and Owner of Christie Tax & Accounting, Campobello, SC. The presenter will discuss net profit or loss, deductions, depreciation, self-employment tax, and estimated tax. An information packet is given to each participant.

The afternoon session, 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. State Tax Workshop is designed for small business owners who are starting a small business or have recently started one in the service, retail, or manufacturing sectors. The workshop covers state tax requirements and employment security obligations. The program will be taught by the SC Department of Revenue and the SC Department of Employment and Workforce. Helpful publications and sample forms are given to each participant.

Small Business Tax Workshop

This workshop is a public service for those who have small businesses or may be thinking about going into business. Co-sponsors include the SC Department of Revenue; the SC Society of Enrolled Agents; the SC Department of Employment and Workforce and the IRS. The workshop is designed to provide information and instruction about business taxes, tax benefits, and obligations connected with starting a business as well as tax responsibilities for new employers. Other topics to be discussed include tax recordkeeping and tax filing deadlines. The first portion of the workshop will cover South Carolina tax requirements and immediately following, the second portion will cover Federal tax obligations. IRS publications and electronic resources will be made available as part of class materials. Small Business Development Center is sponsoring a tax workshop for small business owners.
