Electronic filing requirements for information returns

The Electronic Filing Requirements for Specified Returns and Other Documents, was published in February 2023 by the Department of the Treasury and the Internal Revenue Service. These regulations reduce the 250-return threshold to generally require electronic filing by filers of 10 or more returns in a calendar year beginning in 2024 for tax year 2023.

The final regulations reflect changes made by the TFA 2301 to increase e-filing without undue hardship on taxpayers.
