The Statistics of Income (SOI) Division's adjusted gross income (AGI) percentile data by State are based on individual income tax returns (Forms 1040) filed with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) during a given tax year. The data present the number of individual income tax returns, total income tax, AGI floor percentiles, average tax rates, and sources of income, by selected descending cumulative percentiles. The data include all 50 states, as well as the District of Columbia.
