Reporting Agents (RAs), who are accepted IRS e-file participants, may access several of the IRS e-services Web-based products tailored to meet your client’s needs.
The RA e-services include:
Transcript Delivery System (TDS) - enables you to request and view your client’s account transcripts online or have them delivered to your secure mailbox for subsequent retrieval. You can also upload a TDS bulk file request for transcripts that will also be delivered to your secure mailbox.
MIS Report - enables all Reporting Agent Principals, Responsible Officials, and Delegates having Principal Consent to generate a report called “TDS Requests by Reporting Agents”. The report identifies each TDS request by your company’s EIN, name, user name, date/time, transaction ID, and taxpayer ID. You can login or register for e-Services if you meet the qualifications below.
You must have a Form 8655, Reporting Agent Authorization, on file with the IRS for the specific taxpayer, form, and tax period before requesting information on a client's account using TDS. Individual users must be employed by the Reporting Agent and be identified on the e-file application as a Principal, Principal Consent, Responsible Official, or Delegated User in order to receive requested information under the Reporting Agent’s taxpayer authorization.
RA e-Services can be accessed by all Reporting Agent principals, principal consents, and responsible officials identified on the IRS e-file application who are registered e-Services users. Designated employees must be delegated the authority to access specific RA e-Services. This must be done through your IRS e-file application by a principal, principal consent, or responsible official of your company.
You and/or your designated employees can begin the e-services registration process anytime. The registrant will need their adjusted gross income (AGI) from a tax return filed within the last two years along with other known personal information. Allow seven days to complete the registration process which includes a confirmation code sent to your home via U.S. mail.
