Solution
Review the dependent information on your return.
Each dependent's SSN can be used on only one accepted tax return per tax year.
- First, confirm that the dependent's SSN is entered correctly.
- If the SSN is correct, you must include an Identity Protection PIN (IP PIN) to file electronically.
- You can get an IP PIN at www.irs.gov/getanippin by verifying your identity with the IRS.
After entering the IP PIN, resubmit your return.
