Do-It-Yourself Free Tax Preparation (ASL) - YouTube video text script

Hi, I'm Patrick, and I work for the IRS.

Do you have a simple tax return but don't have access to a computer or the internet to file it electronically, also known as e-file?

Or, would you like to e-file but you're not sure you can do it alone?

If so, we offer a free and easy way you can do it yourself, with an IRS-certified volunteer who is ready to help.

Depending on your income, you may qualify for help at one of our Volunteer Income Tax Assistance or Tax Counseling for the Elderly sites located across the country.

These sites are better known as VITA and TCE sites.

Go to our website to see if you qualify, and to find the closest location that offers the self-preparation option.

You will also find a list of what to bring, such as your photo ID, W-2, Social Security cards for you and your dependents, and more.

At the VITA and TCE sites, you will be able to use a computer and free tax software to complete and e-file your own tax return.

And, you will learn how to file future tax returns all on your own.

But, if you're still not ready to do it yourself, don't worry.

Volunteers at the VITA and TCE site will prepare your tax return for you.

To find a site near you that offers the self-preparation service, just go to irs.gov/vita.

And, if you find this video helpful, please share it.

Thank you.
