IR-2014-79, July 31, 2014 — The IRS will host a Nationwide Tax Forum at the National Harbor, near Washington, DC. Tax professionals who want to attend should register by Aug. 5.

IR-2014-78, July 16, 2014 — The National Taxpayer Advocate today released a mid-year report to Congress that identifies the priority issues the Taxpayer Advocate Service will address during the upcoming fiscal year. These include the Taxpayer Bill of Rights, issuing refunds to victims of return preparer fraud, continuing to make improvements in the Exempt Organizations area and expanding the voluntary return preparer certification program to include competency testing.

IR-2014-77, July 1, 2014 — The IRS today introduced a new, shorter application form to help small charities apply for 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status more easily.
