Error
You are missing Form 8814, Parents' Election to Report Child's Interest and Dividends from your 1040 or you erroneously selected the FORM 8814 code.
Solution
Inspect From 1040, line 7.
- If you entered "FORM 8814" from the drop-down menu by mistake, remove your selection by selecting the drop-down menu and clicking on the blank space above FORM 8814.
- If you entered "FORM 8814" from the drop-down menu and entered an amount on Form 1040, line 7, you must add Form 8814 from the "Add/View Forms" button and Complete Form 8814.
- If you already submitted Form 8814, it may not have attached to your return. Forms must be complete to attach properly.
Make the correction(s) and resubmit.
If you are making a payment, you may have to re-date Step 3, Payment Options.
